As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector - Data Lake & Analytics team, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.


The Data Management group sits within the AI/ML & Data Platforms as part of Global Technology and operates firmwide, liaising with different lines of business to deliver innovative data management products, services and value add solutions. Our philosophy is to function in a product operating model so as to iteratively discover, design, develop and deliver great outcomes to our customers quickly and securely.


Job responsibilities



  • Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks

  • Be accountable for decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures

  • Ensures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders

  • Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary

  • Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team

  • Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation

  • Works with public cloud services with focus on data and ML engineer persona’s.


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills



  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience

  • Experience leading teams of technologists

  • Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives

  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent

  • Extensive experience in the following: Cloud Services such as AWS or Azure; Java and Python; Maven; UNIX; Microservices; GIT; REST web services; Software Development; SQL; Databases; Messaging and Events; Caching; Spark; Big Data storage, processing, and consumption.

  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability

  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
