DescriptionExciting opportunity to join the Credit Trading, CIB Markets technology team building out a full end to end strategic trade management capability for the Exotics business within JP Morgan's strategic Athena platform.
As a Python Software Engineer III at JP Morgan Chase within the Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) Technology team, you will be a key contributor in a growing global agile team working across all parts of the SDLC from analysis/design, development and testing to deliver value to our trading and operations stakeholders. You will be responsible for working alongside a high performing team carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas to support the business's objectives.
This new role involves developing components in the firms’ strategic trading and risk management platform, writing solutions in Python and implementing trade execution/trade management functionality for Fixed Income financial products. Initially, the work involves trade processing, including the capturing, storing and feeding of trades from the exchanges/blotters through to settlement and accounting. The role requires knowledge of Agile Delivery Methodologies and Object Oriented Design, whilst being able to excel as part of a team via excellent technical contribution, communication and partnership.
Job responsibilities
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
- Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Proficient in coding in one or more languages such as Python
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

- Familiarity with modern software development
- Ability to work on large scale systems, navigating unknowns and producing robust solutions to complex issues
- Knowledge of Fixed Income financial markets products is preferred but not necessary
